
Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Hattingh developed through the Blue Bulls system, progressing from youth levels into U19 and U21 squads. He built his foundation in one of South Africa’s top rugby pathways before making the move to the United States to continue his career.
He began his professional journey with the Blue Bulls in Currie Cup and Super Rugby before transitioning to the United States, where he played for the Ohio Aviators. This experience helped establish him as a powerful and dynamic forward at the professional level.
He joined the Seattle Seawolves in the league’s inaugural years and has been a central figure ever since. He has captained the team since 2019, leading them to championship success and multiple finals appearances. He is one of the most capped players in league history, has surpassed 5,000 meters gained, and ranks among the top try scorers in Major League Rugby history.
Hattingh comes from a strong rugby family background and credits his father and uncle as key influences. Outside of rugby, he runs a residential construction company and supports World Vision.
