
Born in Boston and raised in Scotland, McLean began playing rugby at a young age through his local club. He developed through Merchiston Castle School and progressed into the Glasgow Warriors system, building his foundation as a wing.
He began his professional career with Glasgow Warriors, earning experience in the URC and representing Scotland at both age-grade and senior international level. He later continued his development with the American Raptors before moving into Major League Rugby.
He joined the Houston SaberCats in 2025 and made an immediate impact, starting every match and contributing in attack during a run to the Championship Final. He joined the Seattle Seawolves for the 2026 season, bringing speed and finishing ability to the backline.
McLean represents the USA Eagles internationally and continues to build his professional career. Outside of rugby, he enjoys coffee and sushi.
